Psychiatrist (Full Time) Behavioral Health
Diagnoses and treats patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders
by performing the following job responsibilities.
- Conducts psychiatric evaluations, including mental status exams on assigned patients.
- Assesses need for and prescribes psychotropic medications with appropriate
monitoring and follow-up on effectiveness, drug interactions, contraindications
and side effects.
- Collaborates with RN/BSW as needed re: patient medical, laboratory, prescription issues.
- Reviews treatment plans and authorizes with signature; Provides clinical
feedback to treating clinicians.
- Consults with other mental health staff, medical and primary care providers
as appropriate.
- Conducts individual and/or group therapy as instructed.
- Documents all evaluations and treatment of patients in a timely manner
in accordance with MHHC Principles of Practice and Quality Improvement
protocols.
- Consults with Medical Director and or VP of Behavioral health as needed
on high risk cases involving suicide, domestic violence, other types of
imminent danger to patient or others, abuse and neglect and court/legal action.
- Participates in departmental meetings and staff development accordingly
Qualifications: Medical Degree from a college/university approved by American
Medical Association and /or ECFMG; Two or more years of post residency
experience as a Psychiatrist is preferred; Board Certification is required.
