The MHHC Foundation Annual Impact Awards Gala
The MHHC Foundation, the philanthropic arm of MHHC (Morris Heights Health Center), is cognizant of the importance of decisive action and unremitting support of a collective in addressing health and social disparities for those we serve. Since 1997, the Foundation has mobilized over $50 million to enhance the programs of MHHC and support the 52,000+ patients who call the multi-site health system their medical home.
In 2023, the MHHC Foundation continues to support the new MHHC Integrative Health and Wellness Center, a first-of-its-kind health care facility that provides whole-person care by targeting all the leading drivers of health in the Bronx, putting them in parity with clinical care. It is scheduled to open in 2026. Additionally, the MHHC Foundation continues to support its long-standing scholarship program by providing funding for college bound high school students and supporting our communities directly through back-to-school supply giveaways, Thanksgiving turkey giveaways, Healthy Destination programming, community holiday celebrations, Christmas toys giveaways, and so much more.
In 2023, in defiance of recent adversity and undeterred by longstanding challenges, we are united with our community in striving toward a better tomorrow for ourselves and our children. This year’s gala theme is H O P E, which is represented by Health, Opportunities, Promise, and Equity:

Our patient-centered model, care coordination, and case management enable us to work one-on-one with you, understand your challenges and goals, earn your trust, and empower you to thrive.
Equity
By innovating to meet your needs and expand your access to preventive, age, and disease-specific care through programs such as Achieving Diabetes Excellence and Age Well for older adults, we support the highest possible standard of health for all.

Since 1997, the Foundation has mobilized over $50 million to aid in the fight against poverty and inequality, enhance the programs of MHHC, and support the 57,000+ patients who call the multi-site health system their medical home in the Bronx. However, the true health of a community cannot be measured by doctor’s visits alone. At the Foundation, we understand that in life, health without opportunity is not well-being, and well-being without education is not wellness. In 2013, this realization precipitated the establishment of a need-based scholarship program to provide financial support to low-income, college-bound students from the Bronx-empowering our youth to seek diverse, postsecondary academic opportunities. To date, the MHHC Foundation has awarded 73 scholarships totaling $326,000 to Bronx students.
